Chloe’s formal music training started at age 6 when she was accepted to the Special Music School where she began training on piano. It was singing in the choir, however, that began a lifelong love of vocal harmony and ensemble singing.
Chloe’s strong musicianship, vocal flexibility and range have allowed her to enjoy a varied career. Whether she is giving a recital, recording a demo in the studio or acting in a live production, Chloe is happiest when her schedule is full of diverse, challenging and collaborative work. Chloe recently made her soloist debut at Alice Tally Hall with the American Classical Orchestra under the direction of Thomas Crawford. “Holgate wielded a clear straight tone that flexed and tapered beautifully” (New York Classical Review).
Alongside Modern Medieval Voices and the United States Air Force Band, Chloe was featured in the premiere of grammy-winning composer Chris Tin’s new concert work, To Shiver the Sky.
In recent seasons Chloe has been a featured soloist with the American Soloists Ensemble, Ensemble Échappé, the Melius Consort, Chatham Baroque, Folger Consort, Saint Andrew Music Society and the Prototype Festival, when she performed in the NYT Critic’s Pick Acquanetta directed by Daniel Fish. A member of vocal trio ModernMedieval, Chloe looks forward to the release of their debut album, Words of Love and Wisdom. It will feature the chants of Hildegard von Bingen and commissioned works by American composers such as Caleb Burhans, Daniel T. Davis and Caroline Shaw. As an ensemble singer, Chloe has continued exploring works of the medieval and renaissance with acclaimed early music group, Pomerium. She performs regularly with Musica Sacra, Voices of Ascension, Trinity Wall Street, Virtuoso Singers and the Choir of Temple Emanu-El .
During this past year Chloe has focused her efforts on arranging music and composing with her sister, violinist Lily Holgate. They perform together under the name sibyl.
