Kunihiko Ida, born on August 11, 1963, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese actor, director, and musician. He has worked in various genres of acting and is known for his unique performances. In addition to his acting career, Ida is involved in artistic endeavors, including directing and producing stage plays, films, and TV programs. He is also a songwriter and composer, having contributed to movie soundtracks and TV theme songs. He was the lead vocalist of the band ICE.
Ida graduated from Kawaguchi High School and Tokyo Design College. He was previously affiliated with Tokyo Denchi Office and Yoshimoto Kogyo talent agencies. He is currently the founder of "Infinity Dramatic Art" and leads the theater group IDA演劇UNION (劇団漂流船), focusing on entertainment production that contributes to society. He also served as the leader of "劇団ザ・ブロードキャストショウ" (formerly known as よしもとザ・ブロードキャストショウ) during his time with Yoshimoto Kogyo and is an adviser at the NEWS Entertainment School. He is also the representative director of the production company 株式会社スリーベイシス.
Ida is known for a wide range of roles, including his portrayal of Yutaka Chizuru in "GTO" and Teppei in "ゼイラム" (Zeiram). He often plays roles of mild-mannered men, but he has also taken on characters such as villains, politicians, police officers, and comedic feminists. In 2010, his play "沈まない夕陽" (Sunset that Doesn't Sink) raised awareness about cancer treatment and was later adapted into a film. In 2021, he directed the documentary film "舞台をとめるな!" (Don't Stop the Stage!), which offers a new perspective on behind-the-scenes of small theater productions.
